We are very excited to announce that we have set up a permanent camera  overlooking the water hole at Elewana Tarangire Treetops, offering you a ‘window’ to check out what is happening, any time day or night wherever you are in the world. If you are lucky, you may see a herd of elephants enjoying a refreshing drink at sunset or the elusive leopard late at night, watch the theatre of life come and go and get a glimpse of what you could be experiencing if you were actually there.

Many other animals that make up the rich tapestry of Africa frequent the watering hole and the new live view gives an authentic glimpse to potential and returning guests of how wonderful a stay truly is.

We would like to notify our Partners & Friends that our website will be down for maintenance from the 3rd of November for two days. We hope to be back online by Monday 5th November.

Thank you for your patience and should you need assistance, please contact us by email or telephone.

It is such a delight when you meet someone that is so passionate about what they do and is so full of life. The energy and enthusiasm that radiates from this young guide that works at Elewana Kifaru House in Lewa Borana Wildlife Conservancy is infectious. His knowledge of the bush and the animals that live in the conservancy is astounding and he is all too excited about sharing it all with our guests.

During the month of October, Elizabeth Davie, Healing Earth Group Trainer for East Africa visited Elewana Lewa Safari Camp to conduct level two training over four days with a number of our therapists to ensure they offer the best service to our guests.

Last Year Elewana Collection teamed up with Healing Earth in order to enhance its offering to guests, not only in the products used but ensuring our therapists have the best training possible. Healing Earth is a premium African spa brand that offers natural, organic products, therapies and spa concepts to discerning clients around the world. Each lovingly created Healing Earth product harnesses the restorative powers of Africa’s rich natural resources, and is made from only the purest natural active ingredients sourced from the continent’s powerful minerals, oceans, flowers, herbs, fruit, seeds and natural oils.

Deforestation is a significant problem across Africa. Guests staying at certain properties in the Elewana Collection are able to make their contribution to the conservation of the greenery in Kenya. When guests arrive at camp, on their first night guest when they return to their room, on their pillow will be a pack of 10 seedballs, which they are able to use during their stay, when they go out on game drives or a bush walk in the Conservancies, Private Reserves and public land.

Taro Croze is a young and enthusiastic 19 years old, who was born in Nairobi and has lived in Kenya his whole life. He was brought up just outside the capital, near the Nairobi National Park. He is a keen artist and has a passion for wildlife photography, which he can developed as he is in the perfect environment! He has been interested in the safari industry, as it is so vital for Kenya and although sometimes can be a challenging job, it is incredibly rewarding. He believes the main thing for him, in the tourism sector, is showing people the beauty of his home country, Kenya. His aspiration is training to become a manager and eventually manage his own camp in Kenya.

Taro is now based at Elewana Loisaba Tented camp to assist guests with the various activities available during their stay at Loisaba, which range from Camel trekking, horseback safaris to cultural visits and so much more.

Wellness is of growing importance in today's hectic and chaotic world, we understand that at Elewana. When you stay with us, our aim is to make you feel at home, relaxed and enjoy unique experiences. A chance to take a break from your routine and relish great food, a team to pamper you and to make unforgettable safari memories. For those of you that would like to keep up with fitness while on holiday, Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp now has an exciting new running track that will have you enjoying the fresh air and open plains even more intimately.

Recently the Loisaba trainees rangers led by Isaiah, the conservancy trainer, tested the running track. The track consists of 3 routes - the blue route is the easiest being on a flat ground and is 1.6kms, the Red route with 1 steep downhill and uphill is 2kms and the Black route, the hardest, with 2 steep downhills and uphills is 2.5kms. There is a route for everybody here at Loisaba Tented Camp. Of course, our guests from Loisaba Star Beds are very welcome to join the run.

Back in May we published a feature on the conservation program being conducted by San Diego Zoo Global on the leopard’s in Loisaba Conservancy and the valuable research that is carried out. It is so rewarding when the work being done pays off and with this we have had increased leopard sights in the area. Tracking the location of leopard sightings is mapped through a Citizen Science Initiative using tablet and SMART technology. All the Elewana Guides at Loisaba Tented Camp and Star Beds are equipped with a tablet, installed with the simple data collection model, which allows guests to record sightings when out on games drives.

As October drew to an end, our guests at Hotel AfroChic Diani Beach once again had a special moment to witness the arrival of more tiny turtles scrambling out of the sand where they had laid hidden for the last two months. This completes season two, all three nests have now hatched; the first at the end of September, the second at the beginning of October under the cover of darkness and now the last nest, bringing the total this season to approximately 370 turtles.

We are so proud of our partners and all the work we do together to help these beautiful creatures survive and thrive!

Artists, designers and children find inspiration for creativity from the variety of shapes and colours of glass in the Shanga garden. There are no limitations.

This week, glass elements from our garden were used for a Geography School project. One of Arusha’s local school’s had a project that required the children to illustrate where they were from. A family that lives near Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge and frequently visits Traders Walk, originally from England they and their daughter decided to be very creative in her project, showcasing her country using glass from the Shanga garden in a beautiful map of England.

All of us here at Shanga have already given the project an A+++.
