Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp imitates the romance of the safari camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown, with the luxuries that guests have come to expect today. Comprised of twelve tented bedrooms, all of which have en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the interiors are designed to evoke the charm of a bygone era. The property offers incredible access to the annual migration and the opportunity to spot the ‘Big Five’, with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi, and the endless plains.
In 2024 the property underwent a refurbishment of some of the bedrooms and the communal areas. The lounge area has been revamped using both repurposed, reupholstered furnishings and new pieces, incorporating organic linen textiles and leather in tan and beige. A new bar was built in the library area complemented by fresh artwork which features scientific wildlife drawings. Furniture in the dining area was sanded, stained, and reupholstered, while the pool location now features a new shaded area with couches and tables. Guest rooms now feature furnishings that have been sanded and re-stained, along with new carpets and rugs in jute and hand-woven wool. Glassware from Shanga, new brass bedside lamps, as well as other thoughtful trinkets and animal prints have been thoughtfully placed in rooms, recalling the beauty of Africa.
During their stay, guests can enjoy game drives, private bush picnics, sundowners, and camp-fire dining. The refreshing pool allows guests to cool off after a game drive. Serengeti Pioneer Camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering.
