The donations raised in 2017 were made to Kachiuru Primary School on Wednesday 3rd January, which were received and appreciated by the students, the staff and the school committee of parents. The children were allowed to rummage in the boxes, and the whole classroom was filled with excited shouts and kids comparing what they had found - boys trying on bike helmets and others comparing the sizes of their bags of rice, the most popular item was a toy motorbike! The books were passed around and the school committee in particular were delighted with the amount of foodstuffs, which will help towards feeding the children for a while.
After the excitement of receiving the donations, the students were shown Planet Earth: Freshwater and they were amazed to see images of such rivers and lakes, finding it hard to imagine such water in the midst of such drought.
With the money raised a new boys toilet block will be built at the school. A guest visiting on the day, Chelsea Hamby, has confirmed her own donation is to be used to top up the financial donations made by CPS and Elewana, which means the construction of the toilet is to go ahead immediately.
Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed and for your generosity.
